Overview

Release Over 20 (RO20) is a voluntary inshore fisheries conservation movement and 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 2020 by David Fladd in South Carolina. The organization encourages anglers to voluntarily set personal upper slot limits for inshore fish species and release larger fish to protect future populations. RO20 operates on an honor system and uses rewards, positive reinforcement, and science-backed facts to influence angler behavior.

Mission: Influence anglers to follow personal catch and creel limits more restrictive than the law allows, by using rewards, positive reinforcement, and facts backed by scientific research.

Vision: Create an improved and sustainable abundance of fish for future generations to catch.

Geographic Scope

Coastal states from Texas to Maine (United States). Any angler may create a profile; releases are tracked by the state where the fish is released.

Programs

Mobile App

Free app for logging releases, earning raffle entries for monthly giveaways, and tracking personal conservation impact. Available on iOS and Android.

Get On Board

Charter captain program with client release tracking, national leaderboards, and monthly incentives for guides and their clients.

Angler Awards

Annual awards including National Conservation Angler of the Year, State Conservation Angler of the Year (min. 15 releases), Century Club (100-249 releases), Elite 250 (250+ releases), and Influencer of the Year.

Organizations Program

Businesses, clubs, and non-profits can register to appear on leaderboards and compete for annual conservation trophies.
